The objective of this assessment is to assess your knowledge as would be required to:

· confirm client requirements and identify relevant network equipment

· install and configure hardware and software

· configure and test network

· secure network.

This is a written assessment and it will be assessing you on your knowledge of the unit.

This assessment is in two parts:

1. Short answer questions

2. Scenario-based questions.

What do I need to do to achieve a satisfactory result?

To achieve a satisfactory result for this assessment all questions must be answered correctly.

Assessment conditions

Assessment conditions will replicate the workplace, including noise levels, production flow, interruptions and time variances.

Reasonable adjustment

Scenario – PlanetG3

PlanetG3 is a small start-up company located in Sydney. They currently have eight employees and are planning to expand their office premises in the near future. PlanetG3 has consulted with your company XYZ Networking Services to setup their small office network.

As the Network Engineer at XYZ Networking Services, you are given the task of planning and designing the small office network for your client. You will be reporting to your project manager at XYZ Networking Services Mr Mark Myers (Email: markmyers@xyz.com , Phone: 0415987563)

PlanetG3 premises is located at Level 1, No. 10, Beverly Street, Sydney NSW 2000. PlanetG3 already has the following equipment and facilities at their small office premises:

  • five desktop computers
  • three laptop computers
  • one server machine
  • two tablets
  • one printer
  • one internet connection
  • one backup device (network attached storage).
