The Excretory System
It consists of kidney, ureter, urinarry bladder and urethra.
The basic functional unit of the kidney is nephron. Structurally it has bowman's capsule, glomerulus, proximal convoluted tubule (PCT), loop of henle, Distal convoluted tubule (DCT).
Two type of nephron
1. Cortical nephron (about 85%)2. Juxta-medullary nephron (about 15%).
About 180 L of plasma is filtered everyday but only 1% of it comes out As urine i.e 1.8 L. the rest of it get reabsorbed by various methods such as counter current system, diffusion, through channels.
