GIT consists of mouth, oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum and anus.
Once the food is ingested by mouth there is swallowing by deglutition reflex then it passes to acidic medium of stomach through oesophagus. In stomach digestive juice including HCl digest the food from where it passes to small intestine and is mixed with intestinal juice and bile salt. Most of the absorption of food is also done here and mainly water and other undigested food is passed to large where it is egested out
