3.3 Data Sources

Primary data has been used to conduct the present research. In order to collect the required data semi-structured interviews were conducted for some executives of each department of the targeted organizations of UK origin and presently operating in India. The basic aim was to collect the required data in qualitative form through exploratory discussions to reveal and understand the ‘what’ and ‘how’ and ‘why’ of strategies to be followed while operating in a developing country like India. In the present competitive environment all organizations thrive to achieve a competitive advantage for achieving a sustained growth. This thriving is similar when organizations operate in developing countries like India. It is to be noted that a successful and efficient method for assisting organizations to attain a competitive edge is management of knowledge and following strategies that are different from those followed in the home country or any other developed nation but suits the key characteristics and policies of developing countries like India. Such strategies forms the basis of the study under this research and the questions asked through semi-structured interviews were centered on the strategies to be followed in sucg situations.
