Description

This assignment will allow students to use a variety of media to practice their illustration skills in rendering wood, steel, and brass.

Instructions

For this assignment, students will be given a template (A3) where they will show their skills in rendering wood, steel, and brass.

  1. Using the template provided, draw in the appropriate areas where the wood, steel, and brass would be used.
    1. Choose a medium or combination of media that best fits the material

(wood/steel/brass)

  1. Pencil Crayon, Marker, Pastel, Water Colour, etc.
  2. Print out and apply your rendering skills directly onto the template. Consider printing on thicker paper so that the rendering materials will adhere better to the paper.
  3. Draw your wood renderings on the floor.
  4. Draw your steel renderings on the appliances.
  5. Draw your brass renderings on chosen cabinets.
  6. Complete the rest of the elements in the space (cabinets, sink, etc.) to your best ability.
  1. Label the page in the bottom right corner - assignment name and your name
  2. Scan your drawing at a minimum resolution of 150DPI, saving the scan as either a PDF or JPG
  3. Write a 1-page reflection describing the choices you made, and the challenges.
  4. Compile your art work and reflection into a single PDF file save as:

DIDV100_A3_yourlastname_yourfirstname.pdf

Evaluation

Assignment 3 – Rendering Wood/Steel/Brass will be marked in its entirety out of 100. The following rubric indicates the criteria students are to adhere to, and their relative weights to the assignment overall.
