ITM301 Case 2 Part 2

ITM301

Module 2/ Case2

Cloud computing is "generally offered as pay-as-you-go plans and hence has become attractive to cost conscious customers. Apart from the cost, cloud computing also supports the growing concerns of carbon emissions and environmental impact since the cloud advocates better management of resources" (Patel et al., 2009). They offer computing services—like storing personal data, servers, storage, networking, software on the web. When dealing with data resources, data processing, and storage systems, problems may arise that are unexpectedly. However, there are several ways that business owners can mitigate long-term and short-term issues associate with a specific data resource or system. For this assignment, the two cloud hosting vendors I chose are the Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure.

The SLA for AWS is as follows: "AWS will use commercially reasonable efforts to make Amazon Personalize available with a Monthly Uptime Percentage for each AWS region, during any monthly billing cycle (the “Service Commitment”). In the event Amazon Personalize does not meet the Service Commitment, you will be eligible to receive a Service Credit as described below" (Amazon, 2019). Amazon’ Service Level Agreement is a strategy administering the utilization of Amazon under the conditions of the Amazon Web Services client understanding between the client and Amazon. AWS utilizes financially reasonable efforts to make Amazon EC2 and EBS accessible with a month to month fee, if in any way, shape or form the administration responsibility isn't met the client is qualified to get an assistance credit " (Amazon, 2019).

Amazon Web Services have several KPIs: such as lifetime user count, active user count, session count within the app, and data retention. "Microsoft Azure is an ever-expanding set of cloud services to help your organization meet your business challenges. It’s the freedom to build, manage, and deploy applications on a massive, global network using your favorite tools and frameworks" (Microsoft Azure, 2019). Microsoft Azure is a cloud computing that was made with the intention to assemble, send, test, and manage application and services with the data provided Cloud (Siddiqui, 2018).

One of Azure's KPI's is rate. Accessibility and reaction rate are depicted as one of the most significant components of distributed computing. Siddiqui expressed, "One of the primary jobs of Azure Administrators is to see the availability as well as the service time of Azure resources" (2018). Another one is versatility and limit. As per Siddiqui, servers are the place a large portion of the preparing happens. The processing of power and capacity is an important factor in Azure applications (2018). Another KPI is Network Capacity and Utilization Metrics. Siddiqui expressed that "they are significant on the grounds that they help in moving questions, messages, just as directions crosswise over various cloud administrations" (2018).

From this assignment, I get to understand each vendors’ Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). I would recommend the AWS simply because it can meet the demand of big markets. Though their performance is not up to standard, it compensates for it in cost by giving a reasonable plan.
