I will highlight the learning gained by me in each week and what topic changed my concepts of business research.
Reflecting the ideas
In this section, I would like to reflect the ideas on what I have learned during the Assignment. I would like to reflect about the concepts and I can I translate these concepts. The reflective writing conducted in this Assignment is about direct implementation. The direct implementation of the Assignment concepts will take place in this reflection. I will highlight the learning gained by me in each week and what topic changed my concepts of business research. Management of diverse teams is not a unique topic but it has great value in the human resource studies. I have learned new concepts of diversity through the assignment 1 when I was developing the literature review. In the section of personal reflection I will address the concepts and leanings from each week.
Here we started the week by looking at the reasons for conducting the study and the reasons to investigate on the issues. For me the most important topic was about the role of the researcher and reasoning used by the researcher. The teacher also explained about the features of qualitative and quantitative research, mixed methods, different designs of the research and the strategies used for research, the strategies for research.
The planning the process of research for me was the most effective topic in the research. The next topic in the lecture was about the collecting the data and its methods and the evaluation of the research questions. For me the main topic was regarding the use of research questions, the importance of research designs and the management of time and resources for the completion of research study.
Effectiveness of the learning’s
Effectiveness on the ideas learned during week 2 can be observed in my assignment 2. Here, we learned about the designs used for developing the research and the role of the researcher. In my assignment 2, I have developed the research design and methodology with the same concept. According to me the main concepts behind the research is to explore the root cause of the problem. The value of this experience is significant and cannot be explained in words because the results of this experience will be observed in my professional life.
So, in week 3 we progressed with the components of the research and the came towards the literature review. We learned about the basics; writing literature review in the work, the type of sources used for writing the literature etc. The teacher helped us by providing tips for selecting the most appropriate research content which can increase the quality of the content. For me the most important topic in the lecture was about writing the literature review academically and the issues in writing the literature review for the research study.
Usefulness of the learning
I will use this learning in my personal life by implementing the ideas of research and the roles played by the researcher. Ethical concepts discussed in week 4 will guide me in dealing with people in my personal and professional life. In this Assignment I have used the concepts and in my assignment 2, I have developed the research design and methodology with the same concept. According to me the main concepts behind the research is to explore the root cause of the problem.
The importance of ethics in the business research, issues associated while sampling and data collection. The main learning in this week was about the issue of not taking the consent of the respondents, the issue of harming the participants and the most critical issues of invading in the privacy of other individuals without their consent. All these issues have legal consequences and the researcher should never cross the border of ethics.
In this section, we learned about the qualitative research and the reason for using the qualitative research. The teacher was explanative and discussed about the main reason for using the qualitative research, the nature of the qualitative research and the main features of the qualitative research. I learned about the approaches used by the researcher for managing the validity and reliability of the study.
I was interested in learning about the research instruments and in week 6 the teacher explained to us about the interviews. The types of questions included in the interviews was discussed and the approaches used by the researcher for collecting the qualitative data. I learned about the approaches used by the researcher for collecting the qualitative data, making the guide for the interview and in the end teacher also covered the tips for writing the qualitative data. The details about structured interviews, focus group of the research and the language used for the qualitative research was also present in the lectures.
During the Assignment I developed two research assignments that were an interpretation of the theoretical concepts learned in the class. I read journal articles and new paper publications for developing my research literature for the selected topic. I discussed with my class mates about my assignment and my teacher taught me about the literature review.
In general the teacher explained us about the data analysis in qualitative research and the analysis of the data. For me the main topic of interest was about the coding and other methods, the language used for coding the qualitative data. The teacher also discussed about the documents available for the researcher for research and the historical analysis for the research. The content analysis of the research and types of documents available for research were also present.
In this section I will explain the reason for conducting the activities of week 1 and week 2. The assignments provided by the teacher guided us to interpret what we have learned in the class. The application was direct in both assignments and for me the main reason for completing these assignments was to get marks from the tutor.
Starting with the concepts of quantitative research and the main reason for selecting the quantitative research, the tutor progressed in the lecture with the type of sampling used for collecting the quantitative data. The teacher in the end explained about the criticisms used by the researcher for quantifying the data and the main concepts for quantitative research.
Application of learning
I would like to state that the concepts taken from this class will be applied in coming Assignments of business research. During the program I will have the chance to implement the concepts of research in my research study.
Here the tutor discussed about the concept used for structuring, structured interviewing, criticisms present on quantitative research. We were also interested about the types of interviews used by the researcher and the questions included in the interviews and survey.
In the week lectures the tutor discussed about the content analysis, structured observation and the ethical issues with observation. The qualities of using probability sampling in the research, the alternatives used for structured interviews, problems linked with structured interviews and the concepts of probability sampling, the ideal approach for sampling.
Analysing the quantitative data collected through survey was the first topic in week 11 lecture. The tutor explained further about the statistics used for quantifying the data and the issues with reliability and validity. I am aware with the limitations faced by the researcher and the lectures also explained about the limitations.
I think that the topic of mixed methodology should have been explained in the beginning lectures because this is an interesting topic. The nature of mixed methodology along with the features of using mixed methodology and the reasons for using qualitative and quantitative methods for conducting the study were discussed.
I would conclude by saying that personal reflection has been an effective form of discussion with my tutor. I have learned new concepts of diversity through the assignment 1 when I was developing the literature review. The reflective writing conducted in this Assignment is about direct implementation.
