Heredity Assignment

Heredity 1

  1. Observe the F1 seedlings from the cross of gl1 x gfp1 using the dissecting scope and the royal blue light source. What is the inheritance pattern for the glabrous phenotype? What is the inheritance pattern for the gfp1 pattern?

Glabrous phenotypes are recessive, while gfp1 patterns are dominant

  1. Construct a Punnett square for the original cross of parental lines: gl1gl1/gfp2gfp2 x gl2gl2/gfp1gfp1

  1. What is the expected phenotype?

  1. Evaluate your observed vs. expected. Do they agree? If not, why might they not?

The observed and expected results are close, but not quite exact. This could be accounted for due to human error of difficulty identifying the characteristics of each phenotype. However, the results are very close.

  1. Were the results from your group substantially different from the total class data? Why?

The results from my group did not substantially differentiate from the class data. The percentages for each phenotypic group were very close if not exactly the same.
