In many industries, competition among different businesses has been encouraged. Competition has been used to increase the value for patients. It is stated that competition ensures services that will satisfy the needs of patients. However, " the role of competition healthcare is much debated. Despite a wealth of international experience in relation to competition, evidence is mixed and contested, and the debate about the potential role for competition is often polarised"(Goddard, 2015).
