OPS 935: Project Management
Assessment 2- case study
| ❖ Developing the project network by: ➢ Drawing AOA (arrow on activities) |

critical path is D-F-I
❖ Developing a Gantt chart to figure out whether the project exceeds the
due date. In this project, it exceeds the due date of 10 weeks to 12
weeks.
❖ Determining the activities to be shortened and the total amount of
resources consumed❖ Allocating resources (have only 4 workers) to
minimize project delay without exceeding the resource limit (5 workers
available per week). If resources are not adequate to meet the demand,
project manager can delay some activities which are not part of the
critical path( Larson et al 2008, p.234)
❖ Estimating time-phased cost after re-allocating the resource to
achieve the minimum cost
❖ Establishing alternative options to crash the project
❖ Comparing the costs incurred between those options to select the best
approach.
Understanding about project life cycle: Defining, planning, executing and delivering ( Larson 2008, p.07)
Project management planning: is an important stage to set up a project to be on track. A project manager can use tools such as Gantt Chart, PERT (Program Evaluation and Review Technique)
Cost management: cost(s) are usually allocates to projects in a form of work breakdown structure (WBS) and grouped together in project hierarchies. Manager is expected to conduct project at minimum cost. Time management is critical actions because time is extremely important to a project that cannot be underestimated. If a project can be completed at due date it will be charged costs, expenses and triggers customer dissatisfaction and loss of customers’ loyalty. There are some tools, techniques that can tackle the problem such as allocating resources, scheduling, crashing and critical path.
constraints (people, materials), time constraints and classification of scheduling problem. They need to classify whether a project is time-constrained or resource constrained therefore take action such as resource scheduling, rule of thumb to minimize project delay.
In conclusion, in order to keep track of the project, manager should obtain sufficient knowledge regarding managing different aspects of the project plan and operate it carefully to avoid unexpected mistakes.
Question 3:
Some of the major tools that a project manager can use to successfully deliver this project to customers include:
Design of an AOA ( arrow on activity) project network which shows the sequence of activities
Critical path analysis is a well-known method to identify the sequence of
| pass are applied to find to early start, late finish and slack. It also demonstrates |

which tasks can be delayed if resource needs to be reallocated. Manager(s) must have to identify the path with the longest duration. The project will be delayed if critical activity is delayed by the same amount of time.
