Math Vocabulary - Chapter 7
point : a location that has no size and is named by a capital letter
line : a series of points that extend in opposite directions without an end named with a lowercase letter
parallel lines : lines in the same planes that never intersect
skew lines : lie in different planes and are not parallel or intersecting
strait angle : An angle that measures exactly 180 degrees
complementary angle : Two angles whose sum is 90 degrees
congruent sides : sides that have the same length.
scalene triangle : A triangle with no congruent sides
obtuse triangle : A triangle where one angle measures over 90 degrees.
polygon : A closed plane figure with sides formed by three or more line segments and the sides only meet at their endpoints. You classify polygons by their number of sides.
decagon : a polygon with 10 sides
regular polygon : a polygon with all sides congruent and all angles congruent
rectangle : a parallelogram with four right angles
square : a parallelogram with four right angles and four congruent sides
diameter : a segment that passes through the center of a circle and has both endpoints on the circle
central angle : an angle with its vertex at the center of a circle
angle : a figure formed by two rays with a common endpoint
