  • This assessment task is a Skills Test.

  • This assessment task consists of five (5) practical demonstration activities.

    • Activity 5: Evaluate the organisational quality system

  • You will receive your feedback within 7 days of submission, and you will be notified by your Trainer/Assessor when your results are available.

Applicable conditions:        
  • As you complete this assessment task, you are predominately demonstrating your skills, techniques and knowledge to your trainer/assessor.

  • Your trainer/assessor may ask you relevant questions during this assessment task.

Resubmissions and reattempts: 
Purpose of the assessment:
  • Skills to identify quality responsibilities in job descriptions

  • Skills to identify and clearly communicate standards for quality management systems

  • Skills to locate and apply relevant legislation, documentation, policies and procedures and confirm that the work activity is compliant

  • Skills to implement the requirements, procedures and techniques for establishing and maintaining a quality system

Task instructions:
  • This assessment task aims to establish and maintain a quality system.

  • The trainer/assessor must observe the student completing the activities.

Further, the trainer/assessor must ensure the simulated construction site meets the requirements in the table below.

The trainer/assessor must ensure that the work site allows the student to establish and maintain a quality system.
The trainer/assessor must take on the role of Supervisor for each student.

The trainer/assessor must ensure that the student has access to the following:

  • Printer

  • Personal protective equipment

The simulated worksite must have realistic tasks, relevant specifications and work instructions, standard work practices, safety requirements and environmental constraints.
The trainer/assessor must provide the student with the worksite’s plans, specifications and drawings.
The trainer/assessor must ensure the simulated site and its surroundings are accessible and clear of hazards, so far as reasonably practicable.
The trainer/assessor must ensure the simulated site has realistic workplace conditions, standards, materials, activities, responsibilities, procedures, safety requirements, and environmental considerations.
An experienced simulated employee (which can be played by the assessor) can provide adequate guidance and supervision to less experienced employees.
The students must have the clothing and footwear required. In addition, the clothing and footwear must be in good condition and suitable for the task.

Instructions for trainer/assessor:

  • The trainer/assessor must arrange for a simulated worksite for the student to carry out the activities. The simulated worksite must be a close simulation of a workplace environment that replicates construction workplace conditions, materials, activities, responsibilities and procedures. The simulated worksite must meet the requirements given in the ‘Simulated workplace environment requirements’ section given below.

  • The trainer/assessor must provide a verbal briefing for each assessment activity prior to commencement.

Instructions for the student:

  • The student must follow organisational procedures, industry standards, equipment specifications, regulations, codes of practice and operations manuals during the completion of the assessment activities.

  • Develop and implement procedures for quality management

  • Monitor quality activity, identify areas for improvement and implement changes for continuous improvement

  • Implement the requirements, procedures and techniques for establishing and maintaining a quality system

  • Work effectively with others to establish and maintain a quality system in a way that meets all required outcomes

  • Collect, interpret, and confirm job requirements.

  • Obtain, interpret, and apply documentation required to establish and maintain a quality system.

  • Implement and sustain collaboration and consultation processes in accordance with workplace procedures.

  • Handle issues raised in accordance with workplace procedures.

  • Develop procedures for dealing with quality issues and trends to ensure compliance.

  • Develop procedures for implementing interim solutions when measures to address quality issues at their source are not feasible.

  • Make appropriate improvements to the quality system recommendations.

  • Determine compliance with applicable legislation and codes of practice.

  • Observe the student performing each activity and assess them against the observation checklist provided after each activity.
