Students will use knowledge acquired and personal reflections/insights from in-class
experiential labs, course lecture notes, course textbook and academic research articles. The goal of this project is for students to design a mental skills program for themselves and actively implement it throughout the term.

The paper will be completed in 2 phases:

Phase 1 - DUE OCTOBER 24, 2021
Phase 1: Introduction, Rationale, 3 Mental Skills sections.

2.Rationale (10 marks)
a.Explain what an MSP is. What is the purpose of an MSP broadly? (use academic articles that explain the purpose of an MSP for athletes)
b.Explain how your MSP was developed (i.e. the 3 Global Assessments – Muscat Spider, TOPS, Performance Profile)
c.Why did you choose your 3 mental skills? Explain in relation to assessments and your

sport or activity.

3.3 Mental Skills sections (5 marks x 3 = 15 marks total)
a.Define the mental skill and explain any relevant literature and/or theories.

b.Explain all assessments relevant to the chosen mental skill. Explain what the assessment is and interpret results.

Phase 2: Intervention implementation, tracking of progress and evaluation

2.Evaluation (10 marks)
a.Explain how each individual mental skill was monitored, tracked and evaluated. Evidence must be included in the paper that exemplifies this.

b.Include in-depth reflection of your experience with the implementation of each intervention.

4.APA Format (5 marks)
a.Title page formatted per APA Style
b.Table of Contents formatted per APA Style c.Page numbers in top right corner
d.12 point font
e.1 inch margins
f.References page formatted correctly

5.Journal included with Lab Experiences and Reflections (10 marks) a.Journal entries post-intervention/sport participation b.Tracking evidence included in Journal

Students must include an APA formatted title page, Table of Contents listed all sections in the paper, and page numbers in the top right-hand corner. The paper must be written in 12-point font (Times New Roman, Arial or Calibri) and have 1 inch margins. The references page must be formatted correctly with hanging indentation.

Turnitin

Both phases of the paper will be run through Turnitin plagiarism detection software when it is submitted. A Turnitin “test dropbox” will be set up so students can see their Turnitin scores prior to submission.
