HEAT EXCHANGER DESIGN
Our client has a process fluid line that is coming out of a reactor at 2000C than needed to be cooled down to 900C using water from a river nearby. The river water temperature is a 270C and is available in abundance. Process fluid specific heat capacity is 2470 J kg-1 K-1. The flow rate of the process line is 144.2m3/hr. The density and viscosity of the process fluid are 788 kg m-3 and 4 x 10-4 Pas respectively. Cost of water is estimated as £57 per 1000m3. Cost for the installed heat exchanger is £260 per square meter of heat transfer area. Schedule 40 25 mm OD standard 6m steel pipes are to be used for the tubes.
