Statistical Modeling for Political Analysis
HOMEWORK 1
Good luck with doing the homework. Have some fun with it.
2 Questions
2. Estimate the model and interpret the effect of left-right self-placement.
3. Perform a Wald test on the two interaction term(s). What null hypothesis are you testing here? Should the hypothesis be rejected or do you fail to reject it at the .10 significance level?
1. Obtain the cluster-corrected standard errors for the first model that you estimated (i.e., with the interaction(s)). Comparing the p-values to what you obtained before, do you observe any differences? If so, what are these differences?
2. Compute the simple slope of competence for middle class people and assess whether it is statistically significant.
3. Compute the BIC for the random intercept model and compare it to the BIC of a normal regression model. Which model is preferable and why?
