Shake the interviewers hand with more confidence

Hi class,

Verbal

Nonverbal

What nonverbal cues were used during one of your interviews, and did those nonverbal cues put you at ease or create more tension?

I wore a neutral- colored blouse and a long black pencil skirt during my interview. Nothing too flashy. The proper attire in an interview is truly important. When I feel like I’m dressed for success, I am much more confident in my overall demeanor. For example, I shake the interviewer’s hand with more confidence. The clothes I wore helped with setting the tone of the meeting and I believe it was a beneficial factor to why I got the job.

According to Forsythe (2006), applicants interviewing for a management position received more favorable hiring recommendations when wearing more masculine clothing. Psychological changes occur when wearing certain clothes. Science says that the clothes we wear affect our behavior,
personality, mood, confidence, and even the way we interact with others.
