A stakeholder is defined as anyone who is directly affected by a company and its actions such as employees, stockholders, customers, and the community. There are two types of stakeholders, primary and secondary. Primary stakeholders have a contractual, formal relationship with the company. In the given scenario, an example of a primary
stakeholder for Paradigm Toys are the company’s employees. The actions of their employees directly influence the influence the organization. Secondary stakeholders, on the other hand, are groups or individuals to whom the company does not have formal obligations to. An example in the scenario of a secondary stakeholder for Paradigm Toys is the community in which the company operates in. The company has a duty to reduce its impact on the environment for the community that its factory is located in.

A2. Responsibility for Stakeholders

B1A. Fostering Ethical Culture

There are numerous ways that Paradigm Toys can foster an ethical culture. The first being that they should instill an ethical culture from the top down. Leaders in the company possess the first responsibility in making ethical and moral decisions. They set the standard, with intentions for other to follow, by being ethical (Thomas G. Plante Ph.D., 2015). Additionally, Paradigm toys can also foster ethical strategies for resolving ethical dilemmas through training functions and group meetings (Thomas G. Plante, Ph.D., 2015).

First, conducting employee exit interviews would be a key investigative tool if the company has a high turnover rate. The interviews would assist in determining the cause. Secondly, conducting training sessions and orientations would educate employees on the organization’s ethical expectations as well as gather feedback from the employees. Lastly, conducting an analysis of the feedback left on online job boards such as Indeed.com and Glassdoor.com can provide information on ethical concerns that the company needs to resolve.

C1. Ethical Dilemma

C3. Explanation of Choice

Arguably the most ethical choice would be for me to leave for the morning and return when I can utilize my own workstation. This solution would allow me to adhere to the policy that was given to me during orientation which clearly states that it is forbidden to utilize any equipment other than your own for work-related functions. I believe that if my supervisor were to seek permission from both our department manager and my coworker, permission would not be granted because of legal concerns.

These standards are the minimum for what the employees need to do to follow what is right in the eyes of the company. People also need to be held accountable for unethical behavior. Education and awareness on ethical dilemmas are also key. Education and awareness are important because it would teach the employees how to make ethical decisions and solve ethical dilemmas. Compliance and regulatory trainings are also vital because employees need to be abreast of the law and how to remain compliant with regulatory guidelines.
