Recursive frame qualitative analysis mft progress note tipping points
In Topic 5, you created a treatment plan for your client. If your client was to attend a group therapy session, write a progress note for that client’s participation in that group. How is writing a group progress note different than an individual progress note?
A progress note is a written to record the client’s clinical statues, achievements during their counseling sessions, client symptoms, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment (Chenail, Somers, & Benjamin, 2009). These notes are to be written accurately and concise because they are an important part of the client’s case file (Chenail et al., 2009). Progress notes for group therapy differ from those from individual therapy because group progress notes are about the overview of the group. A progress note would contain the group name, type of group, number of group attendees, etc. (Chenail et al., 2009). Other things that are included in a group progress note is interventions that are used, progress made by each individual toward their treatment goals, assessment of the client, appearance, participation, any changes in behaviors, and future treatment. Individual notes should still be made in their files to note their progress.
