Assignment Description

This week your group will consider how assessment and iteration impact innovation, using the Punjab vocational training case. For this assignment, concentrate on this criterion:​

Application to the case: Your analysis should accurately and thoughtfully apply course concepts about assessment and iteration to the case.​

Learning from the Case

Your small group will look back at the case and video materials and identify and analyze a subpart of the SPDI process that you believe was significant to the evolution of the Punjab project. This subpart should be a way the team ran tests, gathered data, or judged efficacy. ​

Part I: Understanding a Specific Assessment Step

• The decision to seek assessment data at a certain moment or about a certain part of the policy​

• The technique(s) chosen to generate data, or how a specific test or study was designed

When does it occur in the innovation process? What aspect of the innovation does it concern?

Part II: Reflection on the Assessment Step

2. Counterfactual. Finally, imagine what might have happened had this assessment step not occurred in the design process. Briefly characterize “the road not taken.” What does your group hypothesize might have happened to the Punjab project if this had occurred instead? Write 1-2 paragraphs.​
