Version 2.1.FY2020
Please feel free to contact me about any problems that you have in this course. Your performance in this class is very important to me. Let us discuss what will make you succeed in this course and do concrete steps to achieve it.
Instructor’s Preferred Method of Contact:
domingo.litong@hccs.edu
I will respond to emails within 24 hours Monday through Friday; I will
reply to weekend messages on Monday mornings.
I emphasize the importance of doing homework. Though I try to include different problems for each section, it is not possible to exhaust all types of situations. You must discover some of them yourself, and this is when you learn to think independently, making the resolutions to those problems your own. I guarantee that your moments of ‘Eureka!’ will be just as exhilarating as overcoming a seemingly impossible obstacle.

Instructor’s Practices and Procedures
Missed Assignments
The overall HW grade replaces the lowest exam grade in either Exam 1, Exam 2, or Exam 3 if the overall HW grade is better than the lowest exam grade. There is no makeup for any missed exam ---the overall HW grade will simply replace the zero-exam grade. If the overall HW grade is lower than any of the 3 exams, then all the exams count toward the course grade. The comprehensive final exam grade is always 25% of the course grade. Any student who misses TWO exams successively needs to repeat the course.
Academic Integrity
All forms of academic dishonesty including, but not limited to cheating, plagiarism, and collusion are serious offenses. Possible consequences for academic dishonesty include a grade a 0 or F in the particular assignment, failure in the course, and/or recommendations for probation or dismissal from the institution.
Any calculator may be used in class or in doing HW. However, no calculator is allowed during exams, unless stated otherwise. See below for calculator models that are allowed in exams.
Any use of such devices for the purposes other than student learning is strictly prohibited unless authorized as an appropriate ADA accommodation from the ADA Counselor.
