Eng7057 The Importance Of Communication Assessment Answers
Modality is the system in English used to express the varying degrees
of meaning between absolute positive and absolute negative
statements.
Example:
a) The study team identified several issues that may prove to be
barriers to the implementation of the project if they are not
addressed.
b) The study team identified several critical issues that will
definitely prove to be barriers to the implementation of the project if
they are not addressed.
Observations:
Example a) conveys the idea that the writer believes the issues
identified to be problems, but that they are not insurmountable.
Example b) conveys the idea that the issues are more serious, and a
considerable barrier to the project.
Example b) has a higher modality than a).
Levels of Modality
Modality is often categorised as High (e.g. must, necessity), Median
(e.g. can, probably), or Low (e.g. could, rarely).
Answer:
Scope
One of the primary necessities of a project is the scope of work. As an engineering project manager, the scope of work plays a major role in defining all the work that will be involved by the project team. Therefore, the scope of work works to see to it that each project team becomes responsible for delivering. It is not possible to build something not unless and until the exact requirements are known (Mir, and Pinnington, 2014, p.205). A majority of the successful project managers have always documented and predetermined precisely all the project requirements needed for the delivery of a project.
The objectives of any project have to be in line with the project goal always. Thus, some of these objectives include:
To determine the how the project’s resources should be allocated to deliver a successful project.
Getting each person to the same page: The best to enable communication is through the project t manager ensuring that each speaks the same language. Larson and Gray, (2015) state that the practice of getting everyone on the same page goes past dialect and it is something that applies to all the successful organisations. Indeed, there has to be a greater level overview to enable each to understand the purpose of what is being performed in addition to how their efforts fit the entire project.
Project managers should know that listening is as significant as speaking. It should be noted that each person in a project has their views regarding what is most significant when something should be done and what must be prioritised (Todorovi? et al., 2015, p.772). It is the responsibility of the project t manager to listen to all the opinions of the project team by making sure that everyone is heard to keep the project objectives in order.
Assumptions are beliefs that project managers assume to be true in the future, and they are based on their experience, skills, knowledge, and information at hand (Carvalho, and Rabechini Junior, 2015, p.323). These assumptions are the projected events that are expected to happen in the life cycle of a project.
Constraints
For further research about communication and critical thinking as a project manager, one should go in for benchmarking to some of the highly successful organisation to learn more about what and how these organisations do to become successful.
