Assessment 1: Short Essay – Interconnections between pedagogy and leadership (30%)

Length: Approx 1500 words

Drawing on Siraj-Blatchford and Manni (2006) Identify key leadership principles that you see reflected in the thinking and decisions made by the Mia Mia staff to create a high quality early childhood program. Highlight examples from Mia Mia that demonstrate a connection between philosophical / pedagogical knowledge and contextualised leadership decision making. You do not need to discuss all of the leadership principles presented in the Siraj Blatchford & Manni reading but rather select one or two as the focus of your discussion. While source readings have been provided, you are expected to read widely in both the pedagogical and leadership literature to support your discussion showing connections between vision and leadership decision making. Your essay should be presented in formal academic essay style with an introduction, comprehensive argument and concluding statement.
