Instructions to students

• The overall word limit for the assignment is 2250 words. Marks will only be awarded for answers up to the word limit (plus 10%) for each question. Any material written after this will not be counted towards your mark for that question. Headings, quotes and references within the body of the answer are included in the word count. Numerical tables, calculations, and reference lists are not included. For more information on word counts and their rationale, please go to the ‘Assignment Guide’ in the Subject Room.

• Answers are to be in your own words. Reference and cite all your sources when quoting or using material from external sources. Include a reference list at the end of your assignment. Refer to the Guide to Citations and Referencing under ‘Kaplan Library’ in the Subject Room for further information on referencing. Use of quotations only to answer questions is discouraged and will be marked down by markers.

Important guidelines

This assignment is designed to help you practise an activity that is relevant to the finance industry. In order to develop best practice, we encourage you to use the following guidelines in preparing your assignment:

You are a technical analyst for XYZ Bank in Sydney in August 2010.

Note:

• In your answers, rely only upon the charts provided. No credit will be given for demonstrating knowledge of what occurred after August 2010, or for any information not provided on the charts.

Question 1 requires you to mark certain charts.

• You should download and print the necessary charts provided in this assignment for this purpose.

• Leave at least ten (10) lines at the end of each written analysis to allow adequate space for the marker’s comments.

• If one chart is too cluttered for all your markings, you may photocopy the chart and submit your markings on two (or more) separate charts. The charts are currently numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.
