BCCC admitted the complaint and viewed the episode. Kulfi, the

child protagonist, is sent to a children’s reform home (bal sudhar grih) by her stepmother. The child believed that she is being sent to a boarding school. After learning that she is not at a boarding school, she pleads with the warden to make a phone call to her house. Her request is refused. The inmates hold Kulfi
responsible for the ouster of one of them. The depiction is not prolonged. However, since the issue concerns children at a reform home, BCCC decided to ask the channel to be more cautious in depiction. The complaint was thus DISPOSED OF.

The rape scene was gruesome. Such excessively violent content cannot be shown in a primetime serial. Minds of millions of women and children would be affected. It covered more than 30% of the entire episode. No responsible channel would ever air such content without editing. Showing a
scroll/disclaimer that the channel does not support violence against women is a mere formality.

In the garb of highlighting women’s plight in a misogynistic patriarchal rural set-up, the entire narrative revolves around the sadistic portrayal of atrocities akin to rape, molestation, domestic violence, vandalism, debauchery, alcoholism, gangsterism, hooliganism and weapon firing. A serial with such excessive violence does not
deserve to be telecast in primetime, whatever the demand of the story.

BCCC admitted the complaint and viewed the episode. It refers to the story track after Nimki is outraged. Some mediapersons,

including TV reporters, have been shown to enter Nimki’s house and start reporting on trivial issues. BCCC felt that the sequence had an uncanny resemblance to the movie Peepli Live. One TV reporter tries asking Nimki about the sequence of events leading

The male antagonist, a psychotic lover, abducts the elder sister of the female protagonist and weaves a story about her disappearance to the family members. This, despite the fact, that she was to get married to him. BCCC found that the police officer and other family members frantically search for the missing bride while she

has been gagged and kept in a car’s trunk. The Council decided against any intervention as it seemed to be a part of the storyline in which the negative character has been thus shown while others play their part. The complaint was DISPOSED OF.

19				10-03-2019	BCCC admitted the complaint and viewed the episode. Kesari’s father fixes her marriage. The story is set up in a patriarchal society of Rajasthan. The family is shown preparing for the impending shagun ceremony. The child protagonist does not even know about her marriage till her aunt tells her. BCCC viewed subsequent episodes as well and found that the father has been shown in some kind of guilt after fixing the alliance. There is more drama before the shagun ceremony when the child hits her potential bridegroom for humiliating her father. BCCC concluded that the manner in which the child is depicted, there is

The Council felt such innocuous depictions can unnecessarily lead to public uproar. BCCC decided to advise the channel to steer clear of such depiction, lest it should hurt people’s sentiments. 		2	The content is always weird. Nobita tries to impress Suzuka. He blushes on remembering her. In this episode, he imagines a Paris trip and a world tour with her. He also imagines Suzuka in the bathroom and blushes. This is not the correct age to see such content. Recently in school, we faced a serious issue where an eight-year-old child of Standard-2 started pairing a boy and a girl in classroom. The school took appropriate action, but the source of such ideas should be stopped.		out at the last moment. In the subsequent episode, Jiyan’s sister is shown to have a crush on a young boy. Nobita and Doraemon, with the help of a gadget, make the meeting happen. BCCC felt that age-inappropriate subjects must not be dwelled upon in a cartoon show. That would have been prompted by the fact that a soldier, who hails from the place where the show is hosted, had been martyred that same week in which the show was recorded and broadcast. The announcement clip also hails Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman's cool courage in the face of the enemy. The overall intent of the hosts appears to be to contextualise the episode against the recent developments. All the same, it is regrettable that in the process, the producers and anchors have trivialized the attempt. Rather than paying homage to the fallen soldier, they appear to be trivializing military heroism. They resort to several clownish “TV acts” wearing the

Episode 24/09/18: Gumaan’s younger brother’s wife unravels a plan to kill Chakor and she speaks her mind to them. Gumaan’s brothers bring her to the haveli where Imli is present and in a fit of rage she spits on her face. Gumaan then tells her that he will now spend the day with her and deflower her as she has committed a big mistake.

regulating guidelines. After taking the channel’s apology on record, the Council directed it to be more cautious in depiction of violence against women even if inspired by real-life incidents. BCCC noted that it was the first complaint against any show of the channel. It directed the channel to show violence
suggestively (if it is an editorial necessity) without prolonging and depicting it graphically as was done in the impugned episode. The complaint was thus DISPOSED OF.

Durga faces too many difficulties due to her mother-in-law. She succeeds in overcoming her
adversaries by killing Lisa, the female antagonist.

For this, she serves her time in jail. She returns home to her children Rudra and Stutee after seven years. Rudra hates her because he thinks that Lisa is his biological mother and Durga killed her. Lisa has put a black magic curse on Rudra. This is the reason for his erratic behavior. Lisa decides to kill Durga for taking revenge from her and wants to destroy Dev Mansion. She worships evil god Kaal Bhairav to get more power to kill Durga. She
performs a sacrifice and invokes Kaal Bhairav.

Impressed by Lisa’s prayers, Kal Bhairav appears and tells her that she would overcome Durga using his evil powers. BCCC decided to ask the channel to be careful with the overall
messaging that such programmes would provide to the larger

public and be mindful of viewers’ sensitivities. The complaint was DISPOSED OF.

				The male actor kidnaps and tortures the female protagonist. He forces her to dance, ties her and plays dart on her head. He forces her to marry him. Kidnapping is glorified and evil ideas propagated among youth. The message is: if a female is strong, she should be taught a lesson.
		Star Plus	7			BCCC viewed the episode. Kulfi’s stepmother gets her stuck to a train track while she herself is shown to stand on one track. This was to ascertain who would be the first priority for the male protagonist who saves his wife first. It is also shown that a different train comes on Kulfi’s track. During the whole scene the channel continuously ran a scroll that the scene was shot through computer graphics and crossing an unmanned railway line is a punishable offence. Despite the train not coming on the line where Kulfi was stuck, she remained unharmed but was traumatized. Towards the end, all characters come and leave the message that it is very risky to cross unmanned railway tracks.

					BCCC viewed the episode. Amayra and her friends intentionally make Kulfi eat a lot of cake due to which she has an upset stomach and cannot keep the commitment of singing with her father. BCCC decided to DISPOSE OF the complaints as such sub-plots may be essential to take the story forward.
47				A newborn girl dies while the baby boy survives. The couple whose girl dies adopt the boy. They could have shown the adopted baby as girl. But	protagonist’s wife and sister are admitted to the same hospital. His sister is in coma with little chance of survival. After an accident, she gives birth to a normal baby and his wife who is normal gives birth to a dead baby. The Council felt that nowhere was the allusion to a baby boy or baby girl. Not found maintainable, the complaint was DISPOSED OF.
			8	The programme revolves around a psychopath character. He is shown stalking and harassing a female college student. The promos are in bad taste and magnify sexual advances against women.

expressions. It starts with an objectionable picture of a woman in a magazine. The protagonist is
shown to give titillating expressions and the promo follows such a pattern, explicitly indicating sexual desperation of the lead pair. The promos come up during breaks of family shows where the boy and girl are shown desperate to have sex and eventually are under a bed on which newly married couple are having sex.

Taking strong objection to such language, the Council decided to CAUTION the channel that any more double-meaning dialogues in a popular family show would not be viewed mildly and strong punitive action would be taken against the programme. 	Roop Mard Ka Naya Swaroop				10 & 31/01/19	BCCC viewed the episode. The show revolves around Roop, the male protagonist, a strong advocate of gender equality. He is also seen as being constantly supportive of women in the household and challenging age-old norms. Other characters oppose this view and believe that society and family is male-dominated and should remain so. The family patriarch Shamsher Singh, who is a police officer, is also one such character. He has been shown as a male chauvinist. He tortures his wife when he finds out that she and her daughters were supplying household items like papad, achar to a businessman. He tells his wife that women of the Vaghela family do not work and he breaks a lot of things in the house. He is shown to be reacting violently after finding the truth. He then takes his wife to the room and breaks four glasses and asks her to walk to the shattered pieces.
