Career goals, aspirations and where to focus your time and energies within the profession

My previous works have illustrated how I have mastered the impacted nursing knowledge and comprehended it into practice. This has ensured continuous development nursing skills which have pushed me to acquire more skills and knowledge beyond the basics of nursing skills. During my learning program, I have learnt to have a greater understanding of knowledge while appreciating the research and innovations which impacts positively on my work environment and my surrounding.

How the specific artifacts professional strengths.

One of the challenges I received as the deteriorating health of my uncle. On the reporting day after the semesters break, I received a phone call that the health of my uncle who had been suffering from Congestive Heart Failure was deteriorating and he needed a professional nurse to take care of him. He has been my guardian for so long, and I had the duty to take care of him. This forced me to put on hold my studies for 8months to take care of him. I became his supporter and put him on home-based hospitals, and hospice nurse. It was not an easy task since I had not mastered the practical part of taking care of patients with congestive heart failure. I developed an emotional breakdown which affected my flexibility.

I was able to overcome these challenges through the support of my family and friends as they were always around and walked with me, paid part of the hospital bills and encouraged the sick. Fortunately, my uncle recovered and I was able to back to the program.

Compassionate, Patient-centered Care: Empathy as one of my positive strengths enabled to offer compassionate, patient-centred care to my patients. I feel passionate about my work of interacting with various individuals and enjoyed the opportunity to interact with communities, families, and individuals from various cultures across the lifetime. I was able to put a smile on their faces is what I enjoy the most about this job.

Leadership and Education: During my coursework, I learnt about leadership learning experience (LLE) skills of selflessness, critical thinking, leadership and education. Having the privilege of serving as the program team's leader, I was truly blessed to effectively exercise my leadership skills to my peers and as well practice it in my ongoing clinical nursing practices. Consequently, I was able to educate my patients on their safety measures and how to take care of themselves to remain safe.

Information Technology-Information and technology have been used in bettering the health care sector. When undertaking various research's and as well, during the undertaking of my project, I heavily relied on information and technology in the gathering and collection of data. In my ongoing practice as a clinical nurse, we use an electronic health record for our patients. The electrical health record system stores information on the patient and this influences effective and efficient management of information and data.

Genomic and Genetics-During the coursework was learnt about genomics and genetics. It implied that before treating and when handling any patient, a nurse should try to understand the history and evolution of the disease that a patient is having; if it is genetical or not. Have been incorporating this in my ongoing treatment of my patients.

Manager of the Healing Environment: As a team leader in the class, I was able to collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and nursing team leads in the school. During practical lessons, I assigned tasks to my team members and through collaboration, we were able to evaluate and analyze the obtained results. Collaboration enhanced effectiveness by managing the time resource taken to undertake the practical research project and as well reduce the cost of undertaking the research.

Professional Growth

The guideline on healthcare and professional nursing encompasses mainly on the Promotion of quality and safety through competent care. Through the skills and knowledge have acquired as a professional clinical nurse during my coursework, I feel I have an obligation to improve the quality of safety and care to my patient by enhancing the safety strategies, and nursing interventions of my patients.

Discuss how the program assisted you in developing your professional definition.

The undertaking and Completion of the IHI have boosted the quality and safety skills and knowledge I have which proved to companies that I am serious concerning changing healthcare for the better. The key goal of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement is to improve the healthcare sector to progress and sustain enhanced results in health care centres worldwide. The skills and knowledge I acquired through IHI are far more valuable as I was able to apply it when was handling my uncle who was under home-based care. Having a deeper understanding of handling patients and having the skills and knowledge to do so is the primary principle of nursing. In the future, would love to continue acquiring the knowledge offered by IHI to help me in the development and growth of my skills.

*Evidence-Based Practise*

Research and Innovation supported part D1 definition-When undertaking research, doing projects and in the daily nursing routine, research and innovation are essential in the development of Evidence-based practice skills. Gathering and collection of data are the basics of evidence-based practice.

Evidence-based practice (EBP) is the process of gathering, processing, and implementing data collected to enhance advancement in clinical practice, work environment, or the result of the patient outcomes. Application of EBP in nursing aids in the provision of the highest quality, and cost-efficient patient care.

Primary research involves gathering and collecting of new facts or information which is done through self-conducted research methods while secondary research involves collection existing information from previously conducted studies. In innovation new facts on clinical practices, primary research is more essential while in doing various health setting research and projects, secondary maybe used to help in keeping tracks of the content, context and accuracy of the data.

During this course work, I learnt and developed more understanding of how to analyze and determine the origin of a given problem by using the available evidence. This helped me in understanding ways of comprehending the safety of the patient through competent care. I am continuously and constantly using these safety methods and systems in my daily practice as a nurse. Artifacts Evidence-based practice obtained from C361; Task 1 and Task 2 articulate on how I have applied EBP in my nursing profession. This program has helped me in acquiring research skills and understanding. Before then, I did not quite understand research reviews and quality data collection. Am constantly improving on my research quality (Rosagast, 2013)

b. The artifact that supported my definition is Leadership and Physical endurance. It supported the definition from part D since within the nursing program, leadership skills are one of the most important skills that one has to acquire to become a competent nurse. This is due to accountability and
responsibilities that a nurse holds when taking care and providing the safety of their patients. My leadership skills were applied when I became the team leader in my class and consequently became the lead team leader of the whole class. I was responsible for the daily link communication between the students and the lecturers and the administration as well.

*Importance of professional collaboration for effective nursing leadership*

Community health is the services, research and education rendered to a people within the geographical area while Population health focuses distribution and delivery of health results to a given people within a specified geographical area. A health nurse working in the Community and Population health field are responsible for planning and coordinating educational assemblies, conducting health screening in the area, distribution and administration of medicine etc.

a. The program assisted to develop the professional definition by enhancing the healthcare organizations to systemize and help in the creation of awareness to certain epidemic diseases and promote their prevention and cure in the community as I was lucky to attend Community and Population health awareness program sponsored by a world health organization to enhance prevention and cure for cervical cancer which is a threat to female beings globally. I worked in the screening department where I was in charge of educating the people about this disease and encouraging them to do cervical screening consequently to be able to detect cancer if it is present in the body, family members with the history of cervical cancer were encouraged to screen and were eligible for earlier screenings. I also took part in the screening of my patients. This was an eye-opening program for me, I learnt to holistically deal with various patients with different problems like depression, drug addiction, overweight issues and many more. This program of getting out into the community to enhance and improve the general healthcare of the community gave me a better understanding of the importance and essence of creating public health awareness in our communities.

I learn that the reason why the Community population were experiencing and had developed cancer problems was because of the various industries situated around the area. Most of these industries were releasing their waste into the environment by channelling and releasing the waste into the rivers and stream, the contaminated water would be chained and consumed by human indirectly. This would introduce chemical and heavy metals into the human system which would later result in cancer. Due to the rise in patients having cancer in the area, it drew the tension as to why a huge population in the area might have been experiencing the same problem. The World health organization started health-related awareness in the community especially the cancer screening and awareness is because of the rise in death in the region due to cervical cancer which has emerged to be the deadliest cancer type in the
