Discuss how the main role of the Supreme Court in the USA is to protect the rights and liberties of US citizens.
Supreme court with its power of judicial review is herald as the watchdog of the American Constitution, the supreme law of the land. America doesn’t have a single Supreme Court like that in UK or India. In America though, the state of the country has it own Supreme Court. Given the supremacy in the law-making process that state enjoys the presence of Supreme Court plays an important role in limiting the state’s authority.
The very recent examples of how the Supreme Court has helped in maintaining its citizen’s rights and liberties of US citizens can be better elucidate to its response to various policy programs that Donald Trump has recently introduced.
With Trump introducing a policy that banned entry of individuals belonging to a certain community, the role that the Supreme Court played in limiting such tyrannical and inhumane act is notable. Thus, ensuring that the liberty and rights of citizens are protecting from the government.
