Convolution is the mathematical operation of Match Filter(MF). With impulse response of filter signals is convolved. And the mathematical operation of correlator is correlation. The terms match filter is also used in correlation. Correlation is the matrix similarity between two different signals. The correlation coefficient for given time of two given signals is between -1 to +1.
convolution is a way to find the output of impulse response h(n) for an input x(n) so it is used to calculate the output of a system. impulse response of MF is defined in terms of signals that is reversed with respect to time.
