Challenge of women safety in India

India is a country which got its independence 69 years ago. But since then to now, the condition of Indian women has not changed much. I totally agreed that there has been some great change in the status of women in India. In today’s time, they hold many high offices such as president, the prime minister, Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and Governors. But what about women safety?

Still, most of the women in India are afraid to walk at night alone. India ranked among as the fourth most dangerous country for a woman to live in. Topped by Afghanistan, DR Congo and Pakistan. Harassments and violence against women occur both in the public and private sphere. Rape is an everyday issue in India. Every minute a girl is raped. The shocking fact about rape is that six out of ten rapes occur in the home or in the home of relatives or friend.

All women should stand up for their safety. The government has to focus more on women safety. all public transport must have GPS, installed CCTV. Register FIRs in all cases of rape, sexual harassment and other crimes against crimes. The self-defense training must be provided to girls in schools and even in colleges. Women too deserve a safe and happy life.
