FIN10002 assignment question

PRESENTATION

Presentation is an important feature of a business report. The guide to presentation that follows includes an Executive summary, Introduction, Analysis and Appendices.

Your assignment should be submitted as a single WORD document through the Assessment window on Blackboard.

YOUR ASSIGNMENT should be presented as follows

INTRODUCTION

This should contain information about what we expect to read in the project. THIS

SHOULD TAKE ABOUT HALF A PAGE.

ANALYSIS

  • DESCRIPTIVE STATISTICS

There are 6 variables in your data sets when you ignore the customer ID. For each of these 6 variables you will need to provide an appropriate graph, a frequency tabulation and, in the case of only Interval/Ratio variables, you will need a summary statistics table. What is appropriate depends on the level of measurement (Nominal, Ordinal or Interval/Ratio). You must also (very important) provide descriptions related to the information contained in each carefully labeled and numbered graph/table (e.g. Table 1 shows …; Figure 1 shows….).

Do not include any information that you will not include in your descriptions (e.g. kurtosis). Take one variable at a time. THIS SHOULD TAKE ABOUT TWO PAGES.

  • CONFIDENCE INTERVAL

“We are 95% confident that………….”

Do not show the method of calculating a confidence interval but place this in Appendix 2.

THIS WILL TAKE HALF A PAGE OR LESS.

  • HYPOTHESIS TESTING

Do not write H0 H1 etc. Only your result such as “a hypothesis test was performed in order to determine whether………” Also report the test statistic value (e.g. t=3.10), p-value (e.g. p=.002), degrees of freedom(df=…). THIS WILL TAKE HALF A PAGE OR LESS.

  • REGRESSION

Give your scatter plot with the line of best fit on the graph. Describe the strength of the relationship between the variables using R and R square.

Interpret the slope and intercept coefficients and the hypothesis test. Also provide hypothesis test results for the Rho test (result (e.g. t=1.60, p=.063, df=…) . THIS WILL

TAKE ABOUT ONE PAGE.

  • CONCLUSIONS AND LIMITATIONS

All the information from the above four sections should be presented here in a concise format. Make sure not to give tables or graphs here. THIS WILL TAKE HALF A PAGE.

  • EXECUTIVE SUMMARY (not to be included in the page count)

This is your 1st page and not to be included in the page count. Executive summary should be a combined form of Introduction and Conclusions.

Report only the highlights of the findings

Entice an Executive to read on

Essentially a lively summary of the main conclusions

No longer than one page. Since not counted in the page count, must be on a separate page from the rest of the report.

  • APPENDIX (not to be included in the page count)

Must contain

your selection of random numbers and related random data.

Any additional calculations

Your EXCEL tables for confidence intervals, hypothesis testing and regression.

Graphs must be in the Main body of the report, along with relevant tables and discussion. Graphs kept only in the appendix will not score any marks.

Indications given above about the page lengths are only a guideline. You will not be penalized for changing these, as long as you remain within the 5-page limit.
